In June 15 local time, Hyundai Corporation and Hyundai Rotem signed a 44.7-billion-won train maintenance extension contract with Ukrainian Railways Speed Company (URSC).
Based on the contract, Hyundai Rotem and Hyundai Corporation will be in charge of the maintenance of 90 trains under operation in Kiev, Ukraine, until 2022.
In 2010, the company signed a contract to supply trains to Ukraine. Subsequently, in 2012 it signed a contract for the maintenance of the trains it had supplied. This contract adds another three years to the existing period on the contract.
Na Yerin, of the Vehicle Defense Team, said, “With the know-how accumulated in the Ukrainian market, we will strive further to expand our railway supply and maintenance business into Eastern Europe and the Balkans as well as CIS markets.”*
