“A myriad of experiences have enabled me to grow to become a real businessman,” HC Smart Mobility Team Professional Choi Chang-seong said in an interview with the Digital Times held on October 07, 2024.
He stressed, “Trading companies can be defined as traditional platform businesses that have linked humans to goods to create values since the times when international trade was not promoted effectively.”
According to PR Choi, within the platform, traders act as business organizers who should meet the needs of various stakeholders including manufacturers, governments, partners, and financial institutions, leading them to move in one direction.
He said, “Modern platforms are based on online consumers. However, trading corporations carry out complex projects that cannot be managed by online platforms. The companies are considered competitive because they conduct business activities in areas that are out of reach of manufacturers.”
His smart mobility team deals with means of transportation such as commercial vehicles, railway vehigles and defense vehicles. The team is in charge of discovering and managing local distributers, exporting products, and giving mobility to projects implemented by cities, nations, and companies.
Choi also mentioned, “Products made in Korea are widely known around the world as high-quality goods. Based on such technological prowess, made-in-Korea products are deemed to be highly competitive not only in price but also in quality.”
Last year, in cooperation with the Presidential Office of Turkmenistan, the team customized and supplied Genesis and Carnival vehicles to Turkmenistan. This project left a deep impression on him. Closely communicating with the Presidential Office, the team has long collaborated with local companies and special vehicle manufacturers, satisfying the needs of clients. The exported vehicles were also employed as official state cars when the President and the National Assembly Speaker of the Republic of Korea made a state visit to Turkmenistan.
Before joining Hyundai Corporation in 2022, PR Choi accumulated various experiences in manufacturing, food, and fashion. Working in global business, exclusive distribution, and outsourcing, he learned how to share and coordinate different views.
In particular, in his twenties, Choi traveled around the globe, meeting various types of people. Such experiences have significantly helped him work effectively for HC. He has learned how to cooperate with people and to meet their needs, which also applies to business communication.

To deliver such experiences to his son, he took five months’ childcare leave to visit Thailand, New Zealand, Australia, and Europe. Hyundai Corporation allows its employees to take childcare leave for up to one year until their children reach the age of eight (western age).
Choi said, “I was able to spend a long time with my son thanks to the kind support of the team’s leader and members. I took trips to places where those I met while working reside. Meeting a number of people, my kid was able to learn how to open his mind and sincerely communicate with them.”
Choi actively recommends that energetic and passionate youths work for trading companies. He stated, “General trading companies provide their employees with a lot of opportunities to lead various projects. At some global offices, assistant managers work as office heads. I look forward to seeing them enthusiastically work in global markets and accumulate valuable experiences. Trading companies have actively created business environments for their employees to demonstrate their competence.”
HC has focused on the essence of business to enable its employees to efficiently deliver real business situations without going through unnecessary reporting procedures. Allowing its members to take overseas business trips to address significant issues, it has supported them to directly implement global projects. Also, even through short business trips, its employees have been able to produce many tangible results with the help of 42 branch offices across the world.
