The members of Volunteer Group of HYUNDAI Corporation provided a place for Samgyetang sharing sponsorship in Doneui-dong dosshouse near the company on July 18.
The members donated 200 uncooked chickens to Dongeui-dong dosshouse through ‘Kkottongnae House of Love in Seoul’ where they support free meal service activity. The donated uncooked chickens used as materials for Samgyetang cooked by Kkottongnae House of Love in Seoul and provided to about 200 residents of Doneui-dong dosshouse.

There is a special reason that they shared Samgyetang in Kkottongnae House of Love in Seoul. Most of residents in dosshouse are suffering from various diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, joint problems, liver disease and have difficulties economically to care their health when the heat wave persists. In particular, this summer it is forecasted that the average temperature is higher than usual and the days of heat wave will increase and the residents living in dosshouse need a helping hand. On that day, according to Kkottongnae House of Love in Seoul, they said that the residents in dosshouse who received Samgyetang expressed their thanks for replenishing nutrition for summer and recovering their lost appetite due to the heat.

Meanwhile, the Volunteer Group made in June last year as the voluntary group of volunteers has conducted the collection of used clothes for the homeless twice every month and free meal activity for the residents of ‘dosshouse’ this year same as last year. We have also a plan to help neighborhood in need at the end of this year.
※ What is Doneui-dong dosshouse?
Doneui-dong dosshouse is the area where there are 85 units at the land of 1,000 pyeong around Jongno 3-ga station and 745 slice rooms with 3.3㎡(1 pyeong) each are attached each other. Slice room is a small room of 0.7~1.2 pyeong that one adult can barely sleep and as rooms are concentrated in the narrow passage, the ventilation or sanitation is very vulnerable. About 60% of the residents living here are suffering from several diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, liver disease and have difficulties economically as they are basic living security received people or day workers.
